On the final stretch and not ready to finish

Well, I crossed the marker for the last 100kms yesterday and I am not nearly ready for this experience to end! If given a week to rest, I think I could turn around and do it all over again.

I’ll post more later about some of the experiences and reflections from this journey, but here are some quick details:

So far, the only thing I have lost is my comb…but a friend had an extra brush and gave it to me. No knots in my hair…whew!

I still have the same trail runner shoes…sporting several tears in them. Hoping and praying they are going to make it to the end!

I started off with three pairs of socks and I’ll end with two pairs…one of which matches. Ha! One sock from two pairs have holes in them and so I’ve matched up the decent ones together. My niece who never wears matching socks will be proud of me!

On average, I have been walking 25-35kms a day (15-21 miles). The most I walked in a day was 39kms and the least was 4kms.

I expect to arrive in Santiago on Saturday. Since I don’t feel ready to finish walking, I think I will continue on to Finisterre on Sunday or Monday. It’s a three days walk to the coast that used to be known as “the end of the world”. I’ll keep ya posted!

Wow, your doing so Great! Don’t know if you’ll be able to ever top this experience. You will need to save your shoes under glass or cover them in Gold (like they used to with baby shoes) as a piece of Art later. Hope to see you when you get back. I have a spare room at my house if you need one. Barb 🤓

Hurray for you! You will need a new pair of shoes and some socks but you have gained so much. But you do deserve a rest! Miss you!

  4. Looks like you might be ahead of schedule. Time flies when you’re having fun. So very proud of you. Finish strong while praising God.

  5. Congratulations, Laura! So proud of you…👍

  6. Look at you going the extra mile. Or two. Or more. 🙂 Finally just getting caught up on your posts and living through every word you typed! I am sitting here considering that when life is lived outside of four walls and a desk…how much more fulfilling it must be to both the soul and the mind! Can’t wait to talk to you in person in the near future to hear more! xoxo
